Have you ever had plans, but ended up somewhere completely different than where you started? My bachelor's degree was in intercultural studies, and I had planned to be a long term missionary overseas. I served a few short terms in Mali, Swaziland and Haiti – and then I met my husband. After we met, I strongly considered a career in nursing, and even started some classes – but God had other plans in mind. Handmade baby clothes and accessories have long been a hobby of mine, but after a little coaxing from my husband, that hobby quickly turned into a passion.
Shortly after my husband and I were married, I started Babysprouts in the spare bedroom of our first home. When we moved into our current home, Babysprouts quickly took over our bedroom, the spare bedroom, hallway, living room… and even my husband’s office! Thankfully I have a handy husband; our new studio he built for us is close by and our team at Babysprouts couldn’t be happier.
Being in the online baby clothes business, I've always admired the blogs and social media posts our Customers post of their newest arrival. I have often caught myself dreaming of the day I could adorn my very own sweet newborn with designer organic hoodies and leggings – that didn’t come from a big box store, but from the work of my own hands. It’s been nearly two years now since we launched Babysprouts, and it’s been quite the journey – but along the way it’s felt like something was missing. The idea of starting a family has always been at the forefront of my mind, as early as I can remember. That’s why I’m so excited to share with you that we are expecting!
I don’t know if anyone is ever really ready for motherhood, then again, maybe we’re all ready in our own way. Last week we had our big 20 week ultrasound and reality has finally set in – I’m really going to be a mom! I must admit, when we first found out, although very excited, there was also a little fear. Was I going to thrive at motherhood? Even with all the planning in the world, I guess at some point you just have to take the plunge.
We’re happy to report that baby C is growing strong and healthy and we can't wait to add our new bundle of joy to the Babysprouts team! We are so thankful to all of our new and returning Customers; without your support and feedback we wouldn't be where we are today!
Opening an Etsy Shop in 2014 was just the beginning. Not long after, a few great business opportunities were opened to us and soon we were shipping all over the United States. We hired a designer, seamstresses, and continued to push ourselves to grow, making our dreams come true.
